There were ‘‘star’’ cavies (guinea pigs) and others whose appearances did not quite conform to perfection when the NSW Cavy Club pedigree and pet show took place at Loftus on Sunday.
The club’s publicity officer Linda McWilliam said raising cavies was a great hobby for anyone aged eight to 80 and the event was a chance for all to showcase their pets.
‘‘You don’t have to walk them and you don’t have the long-term commitment of having a dog,’’ Ms McWilliam said.
‘‘Cavies live about four or five years, just long enough to get attached to them.’’
Some people get very attached to them; sisters Sisters Valerie and Catherine Hanna of Narwee have 20. See related story.
