I am sure I have never been so proud to be an Australian and a member of the Sutherland Shire community than I was at the Anzac Day Memorial Service at Cronulla. The speeches were first class; the filming was moving; the setting was perfect and the whole service was very moving.
Standing amongst a crowd estimated by police to be between 12,000 and 15,000 and looking over beautiful South Cronulla beach, one felt that this must have been how our Anzacs felt as they approached Anzac Cove, before the horrors that they faced. Even God was on side; the sunrise during the ceremony was as pretty as one could wish.
I thank everyone involved in the ceremony for giving us the opportunity to honour our proud and brave Anzacs.
Allan Andrews, Cronulla
