UPDATE:
SHIRE boy Brian Cachia packed up lock, stock and ambition and went to Hollywood to work as a co-composer on blockbuster films such as Halloween 2 and Conan the Barbarian.
The filmmaker, composer, writer-producer had earlier teamed up with Infini director, fellow shire boy and friend Shane Abbess.
The pair are now awaiting the release of the new US sci-fi thriller which Cachia composed the music for and Abbess directed. (See more below)
The film stars yet another shire favourite, actor Daniel McPherson, who will run a Twitter Q&A on May 8 about the film.
It also stars Luke Hemsworth and Grace Huang.
On their return to Australia Cachia and Abbess had turned rented houses in the shire into small production facilities where they made short films.
"Many appeared in the Cronulla film festivals every year back in the early 2000s," Cachia said.
"With a team of close filmmaking friends and family, we made the jump into the feature film world and created the gothic angel film Gabriel which was picked up and distributed by Sony Pictures US worldwide.
"It starred the late Andy Whitfield who later became the lead in Spartacus."
Cachia and Abbess went to the US together but after about four years there, the two felt the pull of home and decided to return to Australia.
Back in the shire last year, Cachia co-wrote, produced and composed the music for the sci-fi thriller Infini which will be released on May 8 in Australia.
"I'm inspired by story for the most part," Cachia said.
"I can usually hear the music's journey before it's written.
"Sometimes I'll get a flood of ideas at 3am and have to sketch them out."
