Former sheetmetal worker Herb Hanley celebrated his 95th birthday by tandem skydiving on Saturday afternoon, May 2, and marking the fifth anniversary of his inaugural skydive.
‘‘I said I would do it again if I lived to 95, so here I am,’’ said Mr Hanley of Caringbah.
The latest ‘‘sailing in the air with the greatest of ease’’ was at Wollongong.
He was the oldest person in a tandem skydive with Skydive the Beach and Beyond.
Sharing the flight before Mr Hanley stepped out of the plane was his granddaughter Debbie Dunk and her teenage son, Matthew.
Mr Hanley said he was not frightened when he skydived the first and second time.
‘‘I don’t really have a lot to lose at my age,’’ he said.
