Rockdale City will have the chance to take on A-League opposition after qualifying for the FFA Cup round of 32 on Wednesday night.
The Suns downed local rivals Sutherland 3-0 on a freezing night at the Ilinden Sports Centre in their FFA Cup seventh preliminary round match.
Temperatures dropped to below six degrees just before kick off and the contest itself took 45 minutes to warm up.
Both teams struggled to create any real chances in the first half. Although Sutherland will feel they should have gone to the break 1-0 up after an amazing goal line clearance from Rockdale right back Takuya Murayama.
But it was the hosts who broke the deadlock 10 minutes into the second half with a swift counter attack that saw a Sharks defender turn the ball into his own net.
Nikola Taneski made it two before Marko Jesic sealed the win late on to send Rockdale into the national playoffs.
