Claims are off mark
As far back as 2012, before any building had started, there was a letterbox drop informing nearby residents of what was being planned.
In October 2013, I hosted an open community evening.
About 35 people attended.
The architect was also there and spoke about the scope of the project. He also shared the project's timeline.
On many occasions, I've invited residents to meet personally with me to discuss the project and raise any concerns they may have.
At our 2014 open day, the architectural plans were on open display. Another community forum was held on June 11 last year.
A letterbox drop inviting residents to attend was arranged and many came.
Further information was shared at this year's open day.
I accept that building activity of any kind has the potential to create disruptions.
At Marist Catholic College, we have done everything possible to minimise disruptions to the community.
There is a dire need for more educational facilities in St George and the decision to expand the college is a response to this need.
The project has been carefully planned and complies with all regulatory and safety requirements.
I extend to Ms Khan a personal invitation to meet with me at a time that suits so all of her questions about the project can be answered.
Like others, I am looking forward to the completion of this important community infrastructure so that families in the St George precinct are provided with more high-quality learning education opportunities for their children.
