Cronulla incumbent Luke Lewis is the big-name axing after coach Laurie Daley named his NSW team for Origin I this afternoon, May 19.
Lewis, a veteran of 17 Origin appearances, has been left out in favour of Canterbury duo Josh Jackson and David Klemmer.
Sharks and NSW captain Paul Gallen is absent through injury.
Cronulla prop Andrew Fifita, who has been named on the bench, will return to Origin for the first time since 2013.
St George Illawarra will have Josh Dugan, replacing Jarryd Hayne at fullback, and Trent Merrin on the bench.
The Blues travel to Coffs Harbour on Tuesday afternoon to begin preparations.
