Pension blow
We are both seniors in receipt of a part social services pension, a defined benefit income due to ill health retirement since 1995 (which affects both of us) and a self-funded annuity from our superannuation total being around $65,000 annually for the both of us.
He said they would now no longer be able to do this as it would now be capped at 10 per cent. He also stated that there are 48,000 public servants in receipt of a part pension but only 8000 would be affected and no other defined benefit recipients would be affected.
This is simply not true.
We have been advised by our financial adviser that we are to lose $7000 annually which amounts to $135 per week for us. This is a huge amount of money for us to lose weekly.
Is Mr Morrison aware this will also affect many other pensioners?
