Cronulla Maccas mystery continues

On Monday, March 23, surprised passers-by found handwritten notes on the restaurant's glass doors announcing the store's closure.

Inside there were few signs of furniture — and no signs of hamburgers.

Later a McDonald's spokeswoman confirmed that the company had moved out the previous night, Sunday.

It is still not known what will replace the eatery on the site which is located near the Events cinema.

One rumour was there would be a drive-in convenience store.

But leasing agent for the property, Brett Cooper of Cooper Wilson, dismissed it. "That is totally false," Mr Cooper said.

McDonald's had until July 12 to terminate its five-year lease, he said.
