Mandarin debatable
A second language would be great but I think resources should focus on kids learning proper written and spoken English. Because that seems to be going downhill at a rapid rate these days.
Jodie Horton
Mandarin? What a great asset to have. Wish I was taught it in school.
Trip Berry
Mandarin should not be compulsory. A compulsory second language in the first two years of high school I can agree with, but focusing solely on Asian languages I don't believe is the way to go. Neglecting languages such as French, Spanish, and Portuguese, which are spoken widely throughout the world both socially and in business cannot be left behind.
Vince Hellier
Chinese people are learning English. It's a universal language.
Lynne Keane
Taught by who? Who pays? What do we leave out of the already overpacked curriculums to make time for it?
Kylie Fowler
French was compulsory for two years when I was in high school. Never continued with it, was a complete waste of time (then). Now, it would be good! But really, in my opinion, Mandarin would be much more beneficial to learn and use in Australia than French.
Stel Matos
More useful than German and French they taught us!
Nasha Lyon
A great way to prepare our kids for future opportunities!
