STEVE O'Connor is mostly happy with his team's recent performances — except for some unfortunate losses of concentration.
It has been a tough few weeks for Sutherland who — after a fine start to the season — have lost their last three matches in a row in all competitions.
A shock 2-1 loss at home to Marconi was followed by elimination from the FFA Cup at the hands of local rivals Rockdale City and an unlucky 2-1 defeat to league leaders Sydney Olympic.
Sutherland will look to bounce back on Saturday night when they host 2014 grand final winners Blacktown City.
Despite the slide in results, Sharks coach O'Connor said he was confident his team could arrest the slump.
"At the moment we're just doing silly things," he said.
"Defensive errors here or there, putting ourselves on the backfoot.
"We're always chasing the game; it's killing us at the moment. By and large we're doing the right things. But when we're not we're getting punished."
Sutherland have a number of injury problems which have seen O'Connor give chances to a handful of players from the club's youth system.
"We've got a few injuries which has meant we're looking at some younger boys," he said.
"We've brought in a couple to train with us like Lachlan (Hughes) and the boy (Patrick) O'Shea.
"Cameron (Devlin) is really young as well but he's a tidy player.
"He keeps the ball moving and technically he's very good. So there are chances for younger guys to step up."
O'Connor backed his team to get a result on Saturday.
"It's been a tough few weeks but we have no fear of these sorts of teams," he said. "We've been up and down. We just need to get over the hump of giving ourselves a mountain to climb by conceding silly goals. It's easy to say we've got to do it."
