SUTHERLAND Shire Reconciliation will hold a stall at Cronulla Plaza from 9am to 3pm on Saturday, May 30.
The stall to mark Reconciliation Week will have information and books on local Aboriginal history and items for sale that reflect Aboriginal culture.
Reconciliation Week, May 27 to June 3, marks two significant events in Australia's history.
On May 27, 1967, more than 90 per cent of Australians voted "yes" to changes to the Australian Constitution to give the Commonwealth the power to make laws for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and recognise them in the national census.
And on June 3, 1992, the High Court of Australia delivered what is now known as the "Mabo decision", where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders were legally recognised as having a special relationship to the land, predating colonisation.
This recognition paved the way for land rights called Native Title.
Sutherland Shire Reconciliation spokeswoman Margaret Hopkins said the theme for 2015 National Reconciliation Week was "It's Time to Change it Up".
"Reconciliation Australia is 'changing it up' by working to engage the next generation through Narragunnawali: Reconciliation in Schools and Early Learning," she said.
"Another area for action is to fix historical exclusion and end discrimination against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through the campaign to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia's Constitution and ensure there is no place for racial discrimination in it."
