Sutherland and Australian Test all-rounder Shane Watson has signed with the Sydney Thunder for three seasons.
Watson joins the Thunder after playing previously in the Big Bash with the Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat.

Recently in the Indian Premier League, Watson averaged 43.47 at at strike rate of 135.01 with the bat to go with his six wickets.
Watson, who is preparing for tours of the West Indies and England with Australia later this year, said he was excited to join the Thunder.
“The Thunder is putting together a very strong squad and have some quality players signed on long-term,” he said.
“There is the experience of Jacques (Kallis) and Huss (Michael Hussey) as well as some very talented young players."
“They are a club that’s growing on and off the field and I’m looking to make sure that growth continues over the next three seasons.”
Sydney Thunder general manager Nick Cummins said Watson would be an excellent addition to the franchise.
“Shane is one of the best T20 players in the world," said Cummins.
“He’s a proven performer, and has plenty of big game experience that will be invaluable in the Big Bash.”
