Upgrades of Dunningham Park and the North Cronulla Surf Life Saving Club could be managed under a joint plan of management in a proposal to go to Sutherland Shire Council.
The council was considering a new plan of management for a $4 million upgrade of Dunningham Park and the North Cronulla sea wall, as well as a $2 million Peryman Square upgrade.
Following the recent announcement by North Cronulla Surf Club of plans to upgrade its heritage-listed clubhouse next to Dunningham Park, the council is considering combining all projects under a single plan of management.
The club’s project involves the demolition of an existing single-storey structure that houses the kiosk and construction of a new two-storey building.
The plans would increase the footprint of the club and extend into Dunningham Park.
Council staff recommend the club’s Plan B be incorporated into the the overall Dunningham Park plan of management to provide clear objectives and design principles for the park and buildings.
If adopted, the changes would have to go on public exhibition.
The proposal for the combined plan of management is expected to be considered at the next council meeting.
