DON'T complain about having to wait in the emergency department— you might end up with poo in your hair.
Hairbrush— produced by graduate nurse Samantha Clutsom, of Illawong— has won the 2015 NSW Nurses and Midwives' Association's short film festival.
It tells the story of an emergency department nurse who finds her patience being tested by a disgruntled patient.
We won't give away the plot, but suffice to say it involves a rectal examination and a blonde Barbie doll.
The film is a comedy, and is not intended to offend patients, Miss Clutsom said.
"You can't put on a price on helping care for patients when they are at their most vulnerable," she said.
Miss Clutsom works in a children's ward, and said being a nurse was humbling.
She has produced other short films for YouTube under the user name Sam & Mickey.
In the short story and poetry competition run as part of the festival, clinical nurse specialist Linda O'Malley, of Jannali, won $500 for her story about connecting with patients.
