TO SAY Aimee Ryan of Caringbah South is unconventional is probably an understatement.
The mother of an infant son she calls Bear, her new florist's business is called Willow + Bear, the Willow being the name of what she intends calling her next child. She is not pregnant.
The floral arrangements too are unconventional and Ms Ryan prides herself on providing unstructured flowers.
"I don't believe in perfection; I strip back my flowers to show their natural beauty offering a minimalist and simplistic arrangement," she said.
In doing what she does she is fulfilling a childhood dream.
There is no shop window displaying the flowers, but rather a studio at her home.
"Sadly, flowers today have become a luxury for most. There is no reason why you shouldn't be able to get fresh flowers at an affordable price," Ms Ryan said.
"I only provide flowers that have been grown locally and my stock will always be seasonal, so you know it's coming right from your backyard."
The florist sells two different arrangements each week in sizes that cost $30, $60 and $100, with free delivery within the shire.
Flowers are generally chosen based on what's in season, trends and stand out among other blooms at the markets.
Her business also has teamed up with designers offering limited edition homewares and accessories.
