Cronulla Sharks on Friday announced a three year new major sponsor, with Southern Radiology, at Sharkies Leagues Club.
After struggling to sign a naming rights sponsor since 2011, the team will wear the Southern Radiology name on the front of their jerseys for the first time against the Sydney Roosters on Sunday at Remondis Stadium.
The company is owned by Capitol Health Limited a leader in their industry.
Southern Radiology managing director John Conidi said the sponsorship and partnership is a long term arrangement.
''It is a great fit from our point of view and we are here to stay," Conidi said.
Sharks coach Shane Flanagan said the players, fans, coaching staff and supporters wanted to see a naming rights sponsor.
He said they are thrilled with the naming rights sponsorship.
''We are a club that is building," Flanagan said.
Sharks group chief executive Lyall Gorman, head coach Shane Flanagan, skipper Paul Gallen and Michael Ennis were at the official sponsorship announcement along with Southern Radiology managing director Mr Conidi.
Gorman said the new partnership owed a lot to extensive networking and work behind the scenes by Sharkies Leagues Club general manger Marcelo Veloz.
Gorman said the major sponsorship further enhances the Sharks name and brand in the rugby league and wider community.
"It's about our club being a real community asset and yesterday we found Southern Radiology," he said.
''It is a long term commitment between the Sharks and Southern Radiology."
Southern Radiology has 70 locations Australia-wide, including two sites in Miranda in the Sutherland Shire.
Sharkies Leagues Club general manager Marcelo Veloz said it is great news for the club to have Southern Radiology come on board.
