The securely fenced corridor is now fully utilised for railway purposes.
These include drainage, permanent way tracks, signals (posts), overhead train power supports, cables, communications, equipment cabins, weed control, security, internal maintenance roads with street gates, emergency repair space and environment-enhancing shrubs.
Rail design grading was achieved by cuts, fills and bridges. Cycle and walkway grades need to be similar to roads. They could not follow the railway land profile.
The Leader reported that Miranda MP Eleni Petinos planned consultation with Sutherland Shire Council, walking and cycling groups in coming months.
Cycle routes and storage facilities are needed outside train operation areas. They should not compromise safety, reliability, efficiency, integrity of train operations.
