Newcastle photographer KATHERINE WILLIAMS has shot thousands of images documenting the lives of an extended family at a house in Carrington over the past three years.
One photo from the project, young father Barry with his newborn daughter Alkirra, was chosen in the finals of the National Photographic Portrait Prize.
Williams says the images are reminder that ‘‘everyone has a different perception of normal’’.
‘‘Every now and then, I’’ll set up a portrait, but mostly I capture it as it happens,’’ she says of recording the family’s lives and significant moments.
Weekender featured Williams’s images in January 2013; these images were taken since that time.
These photos were originally featured on the Newcastle Herald.
