Construction of a new car park at the Bonna Point end of Prince Charles Parade, Kurnell, is expected to begin in mid-July and be completed by mid-October.
Sutherland Shire Council approved the $167,000 funding on Monday night, June 29.
It was made available for the project in the 2014-15 financial year and $750,000 has been allocated in the 2015-16 financial year.
The work will be part of the proposed east-west connection pathway along Prince Charles Parade.
The new car park will be opposite Kurnell Catamaran Club which was consulted extensively during the design stage.
The work will complement other projects already undertaken in the vicinity including the Bonna Point boat ramp, pontoon and car park, the new toilet block and the Groyne 6 viewing deck.
The work is expected to begin mid-July and be completed by mid-October, in time for the start of the busy summer season.
