SINGERS: The Arcadians Lamplighters Male Choir, with guest artist Carmel Leonard, will perform at 2pm on July 5, at Penshurst Presbyterian Church, 118 Penshurst Street, Penshurst. Entry: $15, children under 12, free.
Semi-final grinners
CONTESTS: Caringbah High, Sutherland Shire Christian School, Danebank and a Carlton-based home school reached the semi-finals of the Theatresports School's challenge. Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts made it through to the grand final at Enmore Theatre where it came equal third in the senior division.
Singing for peace
CHOIRS: Fiestaville Multicultural Community Choir is enrolling now for term three. Singing for peace, harmony in the international language of music. Where grass is blue
SINGERS: Sutherland Acoustic Club will host two performers who won the country section of a songwriting competition in MerleFest 2015, in North Carolina, US. Their song is It Would Be Easier. The performers are Hunter and Suzy Owens who play bluegrass, old-timey, country and folk music. They draw their inspiration from the traditions of American roots music. Hunter originally came from Virginia, US, but now lives in Sydney. The two have been songwriting for the past 15 years. See them at 7.30pm on July 9 at Tradies Gymea.
