Two former St George netballers have been chosen in the Australian under-21s team to feature in warm-up matches for the World Cup.
Kaitlyn Bryce and Kristiana Manu’a were selected as part of a 12-player squad to take on the Australian Diamonds in Newcastle as well as the Silver Ferns, a New Zealand A side and England in Sydney on August 1-5.
The team was chosen by Australian Diamonds coach Lisa Alexander, Australian under-21s coach Tania Obst, under-21s national selector Kylee Byrne and Netball Australia’s national pathway manager Stacey West.
Manu’a received the nod after an outstanding debut season in the ANZ Championship for the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic and Bryce is playing with Netball NSW Waratahs in the Australian Netball League.
Bryce and Manu’a came through the NSW netball player pathway, having made their state representative debuts together in the 2011 NSW under-17s team.
The duo went on to be crowned under-17s national champions in 2012 and made their ANL debuts in the same season before graduating to the NSW under-21s team in 2013.
Bryce and Manu’a even went as far as being club teammates for St George who claimed their inaugural Dooleys State League Waratah Cup title in 2014.
