IT WAS another successful year at the annual Sutherland Shire and St George Youth Music Awards.
The Sutherland School of Arts event held on Friday, June 26, marked its 24th year in 2015.
Organised by Sutherland Music Club, the competition celebrated the talents of young aspiring high school musicians and performers, 13-18.
Zac Olsen, 18, of Bangor, won the award for performance and was people's choice.
His topic was "The Anzac story, 100 years since Gallipoli".
Joel Karanikas, 14, of Sans Souci, won the overall award for composition.
Several other students won for a variety of instrumental talents and music styles.
Event organiser Jill McLelland said the standard was excellent this year.
"It is wonderful to see new young contestants each year," she said.
A concert hosting youth award finalists over the past 25 years will be held on Sunday, August 23, at Sutherland Uniting Church.
