ST GEORGE Rowing Club are the best in NSW and that's official.
A proud St George Club captain Steve Harrison said the 2014-15 season would stretch from September until May.
The NSW Rowing Association recently presented the club with the premiership shield.
"This is the second time in two years we have won the shield," Harrison said.
"Points are awarded in the championship on a four, two, and one point basis throughout the season.
"This is the sixth time in a row we have finished in the top three NSW rowing clubs in the premiership pointscore.
"We are one of the smaller clubs with just 65 active rowers. Our youngest rower is 13 and our oldest is 76."
Harrison said the club's boys, girls, men's and women rowers had gave their very best.
"To win the premiership shield once is difficult, and to do it for a second time is a great achievement, the moon, the stars and the planets aligned," he said.
"And for the fourth consecutive year, we won the Masters Shield for the most points in men's and women's events in a season. St George's highlights among many included the club's top results in the NSW Masters Championships, winning 17 gold, eight silver and nine bronze medals.
"We had 30 rowers at the NSW Masters held at Penrith Regatta Centre win medals," Harrison said.
The club won the Edward Trickett Cup for the most points earned over the two-day events. Trickett was a sculler and was Australia's first sporting world champion in 1876.
