YAW Kiti Glyman will make his debut for the St George Illawarra Dragons on Saturday night against the North Queensland Cowboys at WIN Stadium, Wollongong.
The Arncliffe Scots and Dragons junior, 21, will play on the wing replacing Dylan Farrell (back injury).
Known as Kiti by his dad Yaw, mum Lisa and brother Kwame, 19, and his Arncliffe Scots teammates, the 185-centimetre back replaces injured winger Farrell.
His father was born in Ghana and came to Australia in 1985.
‘‘Yaw means Thursday in Ghana,’’ Yaw Glyman said.
‘‘Our son was born on a Thursday.
‘‘We’ll definitely be at the game on Saturday.’’
Glyman went to Arncliffe Public School and then Endeavour Sports High School. He still lives at the family’s Arncliffe home.
Arncliffe Scots Junior Rugby League secretary Glenys Ellis said they’re thrilled for him.
‘‘We’re so terribly proud of him,’’ Ms Ellis said.
‘‘Yaw is such a loyal boy. He’s played with our club since the mini and mod age groups. He’s intensely loyal to Arncliffe Scots.’’
Sitting fourth on 20 points, the Dragons have been hit hard with injuries and representative duties.
Fullback Josh Dugan and forward Trent Merrin are in camp with the NSW State of Origin squad for the third and final match of the series which is against Queensland on Wednesday, July8, at Suncorp Stadium.
Also on the injured list are forwards Tyson Frizell (back), Joel Thompson (hamstring) and Jack deBelin (knee).
Second-rower Will Matthews has been selected but was fighting a dangerous-throw charge at the NRL judiciary on Wednesday night for a tackle on Parramatta forward Anthony Watmough at last Saturday’s game.
Jason Nightingale, back from an ankle injury, shifts from the wing to fullback and Mitch Rein returns as hooker after his one-match suspension.
The under-20s player’s contract was torn up for breaches of his obligations under his NRL contract.
The Dragons have further bolstered their squad by signing Melbourne Storm centre Kurt Mann for the 2016-17 seasons.
