ST GEORGE police are urging international students to be wary of a university fees scam.
Recently a number of students have reported being approached by fraudsters who claim to be working for a company which can pay their university fees at a discounted rate.
They try to persuade students to pay a substantial amount of money to a non-existent and non-legitimate company.
In some instances, the university fees have been paid on the student's behalf by the fraudsters using credits cards which are suspected of being stolen.
Students are reminded to never send money or give credit card details to anyone they don't know and trust.
Anyone who has been approached should contact their local police station and university staff members to report the matter.
