Cronulla hooker Michael Ennis, 31, has been unsuccessful in challenging his grade one, careless high-tackle charge at the judiciary on Wednesday night, July 1.
Ennis was placed on report and then charged for a tackle on Cowboy’s prop Matt Scott in the 69th minute of the match last Saturday night, June 27.
Ennis decided to fight the charge.
He will miss the Sharks game with Manly on Sunday, June 5, at Brookvale Oval.
There had been speculation that should NSW hooker Robbie Farah not be fit for Origin III in Brisbane next Wednesday, July 8, Blues coach Laurie Daley would call up Ennis to fill the void after the Sharks rake had served his suspension on Sunday.
Cronulla will be without captain Paul Gallen because of Origin duty.
The Sea Eagles will have superstar halfback Daly Cherry-Evans after he was left out of Queensland’s team for the Origin decider.
