GEORGE Kambosos Jnr added the Pan Asian Boxing Association (PABA) lightweight division title to his CV with a thumping third-round victory over Argentine Leonardo Gonzalez on Saturday night.
The referee stopped the fight in the third round when Gonzalez's team threw in the white towel during the 61.2-kilogram weight division bout at Club Punchbowl.
Kambosos, 22, of Sylvania, hit like a sledgehammer and now awaits official news from the World Boxing Association for his global ranking, which is expected to be in the top 15.
The Rockdale PCYC fighter has three lightweight division titles — NSW, Australia and PABA belts.
"I want to thank all my fans, my sponsors and my family, my mother, Anna, dad, Jim, sister Joanna, and my girlfriend, Bec," he said.
So far Kambosos has a perfect professional record — eight wins from eight fights.
"From round one to round three, I hit him with a big combination of punches, I split his eye open. Leonardo was pretty much finished," Kambosos said.
"But I don't want see anyone injured. After the fight I thanked Leonardo for giving me the opportunity to fight him and wanted to see he was OK. We had a photo taken together. He's a good boxer. Leonardo had fought for the World Boxing Council light welterweight title."
Kambosos said his next fight would be a mandatory PABA title defence in three or four months' time.
