SOUTHERN Districts first grade rugby union winger Alex Gibbon crossed for five tries in their 76-10 win over last-placed Penrith Emus on Saturday.
The flying winger had scored five tries in a first grade game before for the club.
The third-placed Rebels, on 61 points, brought the home crowd alive with their sparkling attacking play at Forshaw Rugby Park, Sylvania Waters. There is one more round remaining of the Shute Shield premiership competition before the finals.
The Rebels next play on Saturday, July 25, against West Harbour at Concord Oval.
Coach Matt Barr will have several injured players returning, including regular halfback Dewett Roos and fullback Paul Asquith back.
‘‘Both players have had hamstring injuries,’’ Barr said.
