BAY Road Kindy at Gymea Bay has launched an educational resource for children.
And what makes this interesting is that it was created by a kindergarten parent.
Gymea mother Sarah Tillott, of the University of Wollongong's faculty of education, has written a book for early-childhood readers, illustrated by Roy Chen.
And Bay Road Kindy is one of the first early-childhood education services that has worked the material into its curriculum.
Targeted at children aged 3 to 7, Dusty and Friends: Game On! is a story that promotes resilience through fictional characters.
Mrs Tillott said the resource aimed to teach children about conflict resolution and anger management.
"It teaches the skills of decision-making, reflection and consequences," she said. "Children mostly learn when they feel safe and engage with material and this book is like an open dialogue.
"It encourages children to talk about their feelings and experiences and it helps parents and teachers gain an insight into the child's world."
Mrs Tillott also hosts school workshops about Dusty and Friends: Game On! which is available online.
