THESE young travellers are representing Sutherland Shire in an overseas trip to build global friendships.
The year 10 students are part of a long-running exchange program supported and managed by Sutherland Shire Council for the past 37 years.
Run by volunteers, the successful program gives young people the opportunity to meet new people and build valuable life skills in Denver, Colorado, where are staying for six months.
Sutherland Shire has a sister cities agreement with Lakewood, which is at the foot of the Rocky Mountains.
Each student is paired with an US student and family.
They experience life in a US high school and do activities such as camping or skiing.
Students built leadership skills with Miranda RSL Toastmasters before they left on July 12.
They raised money for their trip through community car washes, selling chocolates, and trivia nights.
