IT IS not too hard for Aaron Cachia to go to his new workplace — Cachia, 26, has been made the new Bexley Golf Club course superintendent.
A keen golfer himself, Cachia said he was relishing what he called his "dream job".
He comes with good credentials for looking after the course.
"I started my apprenticeship in 2007 at Hurstville Golf Course," he said.
"Then I needed to work at a bigger club, and went to Strathfield Golf Club."
From there he worked at East Lakes Golf Club where he was third in charge. He started work at Bexley in March.
"Basically I wrote a full report of the course a few days before the interview," Cachia said.
"The report I wrote was quite detailed in some specific course conditions and how I believe Bexley Golf Club as a whole could work towards the betterment of the service provided through the course playing surfaces.
"I said to the club management in my interview that I felt motivated while walking around getting my report info, as I saw that I could employ my education and experience to [create] a nice place to be.
"The course staff have worked well since I arrived and the great work they are carrying out is a significant contributor."
Cachia said first impressions of the 18-hole course were pleasing.
When he applied for the job the board of directors and club golf professional Paul Davis were suitably impressed.
Davis said Cachia had settled in well and he very much had a "teamwork" philosophy.
Cachia said that persistent rain in recent months had made his job challenging.
Bexley is a tree-lined and parklands style course with a layout of more than 4106 metres and a par 64.
Club professional Paul Davis said 600 rounds of golf were played on the course every week.
