A LOT can be taken from home ground advantage in sport.
This weekend, Sutherland will hope there is a feeding frenzy at the Shark Tank.
Sutherland Basketball Association hosts the Basketball NSW Waratah League finals weekend at Sutherland Basketball Stadium on Saturday and Sunday.
Twenty-one games will be played over Saturday and Sunday, with more than 500 players in action from as far away as Newcastle, Wagga, Maitland and Bathurst.
Sutherland also have two teams who have reached their final-fours.
The Sharks' Championship League women's team will play the Norths Bears in their semi-final, and Sutherland's division one State League men's team will play Bankstown.
Winners on Saturday advance to the Grand Final on Sunday.
Sutherland's Championship League women come into the weekend in hot form.
They thrashed Penrith 108-59 last weekend in their qualifying final to set up their clash with Norths.
Simonne Daly, in her first season as a senior women's coach, said she hoped both Sutherland team's would make the most of playing in familiar surroundings.
"[There will] definitely [be] home court advantage," Daly said.
"We train there every night.
"I'd hope it would give us an advantage.
"We've got two of four [teams] through to the finals weekend which is a good effort.
"The finals weekend is normally attended by a good crowd from all associations. Having the finals at the one venue allows the stadium to really build up a good atmosphere as well."
Sutherland will need to turn around their regular season record against the Bears on Saturday, having suffered 27 and 30-point defeats.
"We haven't beaten them but that's the same as last week [against Penrith]," Daly said.
"Early in the season we were a new group coming together and later on we got them after having a couple of weeks off.
"The times we met them we weren't as prepared as I would have liked. We'll definitely be a different team this time."
