EVEN if there is something in the water at The Ridge Golf Club, it's highly unlikely these two young golfers have been anywhere near it.
Brock Speechley and Ethan McNeish are two stars of the club's scholarship and cadets programs respectively and have enjoyed recent success.
Brock, of Heathcote, was the under-12s net winner of the Jack Newton Junior Golf State Age Championships held at The Links' Shell Cove and Wollongong golf clubs during the school holidays.
The 12-year-old, playing off a handicap of 11, saw his net score of 294 enough to take the title.
Not be outdone, Ethan has already lived every golfer's dream.
The 10-year-old recently had his first hole-in-one, at The Ridge's par-three fifth.
Kurt Stegbauer, the head professional and director of coaching at The Ridge, said both were talented young players.
"Brock's skills around the green, chipping and putting are as good as any," he said.
"He's very competitive which every good sportsman needs. He's got that fire in his belly.
"Ethan is a great little kid. For his hole in one [on] the fifth [it] would have been 110 metres up the hill to a tabletop sort of green, so everything sort of slopes away on you.
"So it was a legitimate hole-in-one. Some blokes go their entire life without having one."
