The media industry has come together to help support Glenn Wheeler best known for his role on the Morning Show and his radio show on 2GB.
Wheeler, of Caringbah, was riding a scooter when he was hit by a Mitsubishi wagon at the intersection of Woolooware Road and Caronia Avenue, Woolooware, in January.
He has spent the past several months recovering in a brain rehab unit.
Morning Show executive producer Sarah Stinson spoke to Ben Fordham on his 2GB show on Thursday, July 31.
‘‘When something horrific like this happens, people feel so helpless so what can we do?’’ she said.
‘‘Well, we can show Glenn that we love him.
‘‘We can get our industry together to show that we love him and what we can do and raise some money.
‘‘Financially, it is tough when someone has an injury like that. They can’t work.’’
An appeal will be held on September 2 at the Star Hotel and Casino, Sydney, to help raise funds for his medical costs.
Ms Stinson said the appeal would feature a battle of the bands.
‘‘We’ve got bands from Channel 7, staff bands headed up by Chris Reason at Channel 7, Angela Bishop at Channel 10 and Mike Dalton at Channel 9 and ABC have called in late and said they would like to perform as well,’’ she said.
Mr Fordham said they were hoping other sponsors could support the event.
‘‘We would love any businesses out there, any organisations out there who have had anything to do with Glenn Wheeler in the past,’’ he said.
‘‘We would love for them to support him in his time of need.’’
