These are two ideas in the draft Cronulla Public Domain Strategy that will go on public exhibition for comment this week.
The aim of the draft strategy is to enhance the vibrancy of Cronulla's main public spaces, including Cronulla Plaza, and follows on from last year's Cronulla Design Ideas Competition.
The draft strategy proposes eight aspirational goals for Cronulla and 54 public domain actions to achieve them.
The goals are grouped around four themes — planning and environment; transport; economic development; and community and culture.
The preparation of a comprehensive master plan for the revitalisation of Cronulla Plaza is considered pivotal to the draft strategy's success.
New paving, lighting, planting, outdoor dining, street furniture and night-time activity would be some of the measures to give the plaza a facelift.
Cronulla Chamber of Commerce president Mark Aprilovic urged the community to support the draft strategy.
‘‘It’s a positive step for the community as long as we don’t have paid parking,’’ he said.
‘‘The council has consulted with the community and taken on all our concerns. We stood up when there was a mention of paid parking and the councillors voted not to support it.’’
The draft Cronulla Public Domain Strategy will be on public exhibition until September 14.
