CRONULLA Swim Club has a new batch of competitors taking it forward into what could be an exciting new era.
One of the club coaches Alex Clarke said they cater for swimmers of all abilities.
They have 45 swim members at Caringbah Leisure Centre ranging in age from four to 23 and a committee of 10 making it all come together.
"Recently, we produced our highest ranking on the point-score as a club for over 20 years," Clarke said.
Head coach is the experienced Kevin Neilsen. His son Dan is also on the coaching staff.
Kevin Neilsen runs several swim schools in the Sutherland Shire.
Clarke said at the recent Met Sea Championships and Metropolitan Championships a lot of the swimmers gained race race experience and valuable qualifying times for state competition.
Connor Dibben was Met Sea age champion and he competed at his first metropolitan championships and came away with a bronze medal in 10-years-and-under boys' 100 metres butterfly.
Others to perform well were Jordyn White, who produced a top 10 performance in the 11-years girls' 100 metres freestyle with her time of 1minute.04.2, gaining a top 20 Australian ranking.
Also competing was multi-class competitor Claire Pearson, who has represented Australia in swimming in freestyle, backstroke and breastroke events around the country.
"Claire gained four top ten performances," club coach Dan Neilsen said.
"He has really stepped up. So if you could quote both of us that would be great.
"We have a talent pool at Caringbah with freshwater swimmers and surf lifesaving athletes who have competed at state and national teams at world championship level."
Clarke said there are many volunteers who support all the swimmers in their endeavours.
