The Original Source Australian Boardriders Battle (ABB) is the largest grassroots boardriders event series in Australia.
The 2015-2016 series was launched this morning, August 4, at North Cronulla beach where 2012 world champion Joel Parkinson — a member of the two-time victorious Snapper Rocks Surfriders — had a surf with Paris Whittaker from Cronulla Boardriders and Sheldon Simkus from Snapper.
Surfing Australia's CEO Andrew Stark shared some of the stories coming out of the growing club movement and thanked sponsors and supporters for this important national club surfing event.
More than 60 of Australia’s best boardriders clubs will compete in eight state qualifying rounds, ending in a two-day national final for 20 clubs on the 2016 Australia Day long weekend at Cronulla.
The ABB purpose is to help build the profile of Australian boardriders clubs and their capacities.
More than $260,000 — from prizemoney and monster raffles over two years — has been injected into boardriders clubs.
This will be the third ABB contest held at North Cronulla beach.
