Rebecca Gibney will produce and star in a Seven Network mini-series to be filmed throughout Queensland in September.
Premier and Arts Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk said Screen Queensland had invested more than half a million dollars into the series, tentatively titled Wanted.
The story involves a carjacking and a cross-country chase for money.
"Queensland is on a roll in attracting domestic screen production and the drama series Wanted (working title) continues the momentum," Ms Palaszczuk said.
"The mini-series was created by Rebecca Gibney and Richard Bell and will be entirely based in Queensland – with all filming and post-production happening here."
Wanted is being produced by Gibney's production company R&R Productions, alongside Matchbox Pictures, which produced The Slap and The Devil's Playground.
Matchbox Pictures recently opened a Brisbane office supported by Screen Queensland Enterprise Funding and R&R Productions.
Screen Queensland has invested $527,768 to lure the production to the Sunshine State on top of additional funding from Screen Australia.
SQ also announced that feature film The Nest 3D will be the next international co-production to be shot in Queensland.
Writted and directed by Kimble Rendall, the film begins with the discovery of a mummified Chinese emperor, and results in ancient spiders buried for 2000 years coming back to life.
The Premier said the Arclight Films production would begin shooting in October at the Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast and at other south-east Queensland locations.
"The Nest 3D will spend more than $10 million in Queensland on physical production and will employ 150 Queenslanders," Ms Palaszczuk said.
"Queensland's world-class crew, facilities and diverse locations, along with our technical expertise, are gaining respect both here at home and internationally."
Screen Queensland chief executive Tracey Vieira said production investment allocated in 2014-15 would generate more film activity throughout 2015-16.
"The local industry will be busy with series two of the ABC political thriller The Code, the animated Balloon Barnyard preschool television series by Queensland company Like A Photon, and documentary television series Baby Animals in the Wild by Wildbear Entertainment," she said.
Contemporary western Goldstone was shot in Winton and Middleton in May, generating about $2 million in production expenditure.
The third series of children's drama Mako: Island of Secrets, which was filmed on the Gold Coast, provided about 400 jobs with an expected injection of $7.4 million into the Queensland economy.
The $250 million Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales wrapped up filming on its huge Helensvale set and other locations in July.
