Council investigation
I only wish that a similar investigation was launched into the previous council (2008-12), of which Mr Pickering was a member.
Back then, most councillors spent up big on the ratepayers' purse at the state's top resorts.
Also, not one councillor (out of 11) supported Cr Anne Wagstaff's motion to stop the drinks before council meetings.
Despite being shamed by the Sydney Morning Herald in 2012 as racking up the biggest expenses bill of any LGA in NSW ($390,604 for 2010-11), the gravy train, (which would have alarmed even Bronwyn Bishop) didn't stop at Hurstville.
I'm no fan of the present council but at least it has stopped serving alcohol before meetings and has begun holding workshops on council premises; two things the previous administration failed at miserably.
