Letter: bus depot at Vanessa Street, Kingsgrove, is a pedestrian risk

Being a resident for a decade, I am very disappointed with the approval of the Kingsgrove bus depot by Hurstville Council.

The bus depot will increase the burden on the already busy Vanessa Street.

There is a childcare centre at 70 Vanessa Street where many parents will visit the centre to drop off and pick up their children before and after work.

The speed of cars in the street is always a concern. It is supposed to be 50km/h.

I made a formal complaint to the council in August 2009 in relation to the speed issue on Vanessa Street.

I only received a reply letter from the council that they will look into this issue but nothing has been done.

In the very near future, there will be hundreds of buses sharing Vanessa Street from 5am to 11.30pm daily.

There will be more noise and environmental issues for residents.

Please, please, please, move the bus depot away!
