SUTHERLAND Shire Netball Association has had another top winter competition.
Bellingarra Road Netball Courts at Miranda were a sea of colour with several thousand players, umpires, officials and supporters there for 67 games with 134 umpires officiating grand finals.
The association has 562 teams and 5400 registered players from 25 clubs in 2015.
‘‘It was the culmination of a very successful year for the Sutherland Shire Netball Association,’’ president Maria Bettini said.
‘‘Barden Ridgebacks was the best performing club with 15 teams competing, followed closely by Gymea and Miranda Magpies with 12 teams each.’’
She said another highlight was the Net Set Go competition involving 1100 players that finished on July 29.
Bettini said this competition was sponsored by Tradies and Tradies president Dennis McHugh presented trophies for the competition.
She said preparations now turn to the senior summer night competition starting on October 12-13.
‘‘We also have a junior twilight competition on Monday nights at 5.30pm in the summer,’’ Bettini said.
