BROTHER and sister team Chris and Sam King have been chosen in the Australian Youth Target squad for the World Surf Lifesaving Championships in the Netherlands next year.
The Elouera Surf Lifesaving Club members were stand-outs at the Australian Surf Life Saving Pool Rescue championships on the Gold Coast earlier this month.
Sam, 16, claimed a silver medal in the 15-16 years 100 metres manikin tow with fins.
Not to be outdone by his older sister, Chris, 14, won a gold medal in the under-15s 50m manikin carry, setting a new Australian record in the process, and bronze in the 200m obstacle race.
The siblings, from Woolooware, were joined in the Target squad by North Cronulla trio Kira Hood, Ethan Garland and Lachlan Moyle.
A final squad will be chosen after the Australian Surf Lifesaving Titles on the Sunshine Coast in April.
That team will then head to Europe next September for the World Championships.
It was a successful Australian pool rescue titles for Elouera, with the club's small team of 10 athletes finishing in 13th place overall.
Elouera were the third-highest ranked NSW team, with North Cronulla (15th) and Wanda (25th) also sending competitors to the championships.
Elouera member Troy Racklyeft broke multiple Australian records in his 35 to 39 years age category.
Racklyeft set new marks in each of the 200m obstacle race, 100m tow, 50m manikin carry, 100m manikin carry with fins and 50m swim with fins, winning gold in each event.
He also scored a silver medal in the line throw and finished 12th in the 50m carry without fins.
Alex Clarke was also a star of the meeting, winning a gold medal in the men's line throw, silvers in the 50m swim and 200m super lifesaver and bronze medals in the 100m rescue medley and 200m obstacle race.
