It doesn’t get any better than this on the beach breaks at the Nulla!
Twelve hours straight-from dawn to dusk-offshore winds and a 4/5 ft ESE swell, and in an unbelievable coincidence the entire beach has got good banks, from the Alley to the Bend.
Before you freak out and leave work, this was YESTERDAY, and all the people who thought the wind was from the Sou East and didn’t bother getting up, unlucky! You couldn’t go wrong yesterday at every bank on the beach surfers were getting good waves. There was no one out at all past Wanda, you didn’t need to walk.
This morning at dawn the car park was full, bummer that the wind was howling onshore from the Sou East (yesterday’s forecast). The good news is the swell is bigger at 6ft plus and more from the North and as I write this the wind is abating and could soon swing around to the Sou West: if and when this happens it could be game on once again-imagine 2 days in a row!
The Reefs and Points will be the place and you may want to head towards Kurnell if you have a death wish, except I did see some 8ft onshore bombs break a mile out to see at the Alley-crack out the 7’6’ and start to warm up.
Swellnet predicts that this is the peak of the swell but we will still have good waves tomorrow with Friday being smaller but a new 3ft South swell coming for the weekend and it’s going to be off shore.
Today’s gallery is all from yesterday, with no foreign orders at all and there is three different time zones, morning, lunch and afternoon. I didn’t get much work done yesterday that’s for sure.
Finals Day at the Billabong Pro Tahiti, stop No. 7 on the Samsung Galaxy World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT), has been called ON in building six foot surf at Teahupo'o. Competition will begin with Round 5 at 7:40 a.m. and a champion will be crowned today.
"We're definitely on and we've got some great waves," Kieren Perrow, WSL Commissioner said. "We're starting at 7:40 to make the most of the swell because it will be slowly decreasing throughout the day. The wind is improving though so I think we'll have a great finish to the event".
At the point of writing this the final is on - Flores V Medina-Flores got a 9.87 first wave!
Correction Winner Flores - unstoppable after that first wave.
Anyway I will not waste any more pixels or ink on writing crap - look at the pics and if you’re a surfer lie to your boss and go surfing!
