SALT Pan Creek is beginning to look good thanks to a Green Army team which has already removed more than 20 truckloads of rubbish.
The team got a pat on the back for their good work from Environment Minister Greg Hunt and Banks MP David Coleman who visited the Peakhurst site on Tuesday.
"Last year I conducted a survey that illustrated the concern of the community regarding the condition of Salt Pan Creek," Mr Coleman said.
"I am particularly pleased that we were able to secure federal funding to allow this project to go ahead. The project aims to protect and enhance the ecosystem of the creek and conserve threatened species."
The Green Army is a six-month program for 17-24-year-olds to train and work in the environment.
"This program gives young people the opportunity to gain practical environmental training and get paid for their work," Mr Coleman said.
