EVERYTHING will be shipshape at Port Hacking this Saturday when the Commander of the Australian Fleet, Rear Admiral Stuart Mayer, declares the start of the 2015-16 boating season.
Rear Admiral Mayer will be guest of honour at the Royal Motor Yacht Club Port Hacking annual Opening Day, taking the sail-past salute in the annual review of the fleet. The day starts with the Parade of Spinnakers from the RMYC sailing division at 12.45pm.
The Cronulla Public School Choir will sing the national anthem at 1pm and the review of the fleet will take place from 1.45pm to 2.15pm.
Rear Admiral Mayer joined the Royal Australian Navy in 1984 and served in the Arabian Gulf during the 1990-91 Gulf war.
He saw service on HMAS Adelaide during Australian Defence Force operations in support of East Timorese independence.
He was promoted to Rear Admiral and assumed command of the Australian Fleet in June last year.
