Sutherland Shire Council’s new general manager Scott Phillips has announced the appointment of the council’s new director of corporate services, Therese Manns, currently general manager of Broken Hill City Council.
Ms Manns was recently awarded a NSW Local Government Minister’s Award for Women - Senior Management and is a chartered accountant with a degree in financial administration.
She replaces Bob Honeyman who retired last month after having been the council’s director of corporate services for just under 27 years.
Mr Phillips said Ms Manns has significant experience and success in organisational change and strategic financial planning.
“We’re thrilled to welcome such a high calibre local government professional to Sutherland Shire Council,’’ he said.
‘‘Therese’s skills, experience and leadership will enable her to drive performance and advancements in her directorate and across the council.
‘‘We are very fortunate to secure Therese for the role of corporate services director and I look forward to her commencement at council next month.
‘‘Therese is passionate about local government and the important intergenerational outcomes that can be achieved through strong corporate and strategic resource planning.
‘‘With a combination of public and private sector experience, Therese has a focus on performance and the provision of valued service to the community and has proactively been involved on a number of steering groups and working parties throughout the local government reform process.’’
Ms Manns has family in Sutherland Shire and will move to the area with her partner and two children.
She will begin her role at the council on October 19.
