Community centre House With No Steps, a disability organisation in Hurstville underwent a much needed makeover recently.
Electronic music duo Peking Duk joined Optus RockCorps volunteers and spent four hours painting murals and feature walls, clearing storage space and building planter boxes.
In return for their efforts, volunteers received exclusive money-can’t-buy tickets to the Optus RockCorps concert at The Big Top Luna Park on September 30.
Optus RockCorps is a global youth movement that believes in ‘‘give and get given’’ and rewards volunteers who give up four hours of their time with a ticket to see an exclusive, live concert with some of the world’s biggest musical acts.
The ambassador for this year’s event is Aussie duo The Veronicas.
Now in its third year in Australia, Optus RockCorps has delivered 36,000 in volunteer hours, more than 9,500 tickets have been earned with 88 charities partnering in 122 volunteer projects.
