Re the article "Motel stands on development site" (Leader, September 24).
As it is the only motel near Hurstville I've had to put friends and family in this place when I was unable to accommodate them myself.
The rooms are tired at best, with constant niggling issues for guests.
Most have decided that they'll stay near the airport or in the city when they next want to visit us.
One friend stayed at the Ritz pub. It was better, but not great. At least it is in Hurstville.
When will the Hurstville councils (Hurstville north of the railway line, Kogarah south of the railway line) and town planners designate some space for proper accommodation in Hurstville in among all the approvals going on?
Maybe a multi-use building with motel and service apartment suites as well as residential apartments?
The opportunity might arise if the old Tax Office building is demolished and residential accommodation erected in its place.
