One of the major orchid shows of the year, the Southern Orchid Spectacular 2015 was held at Caringbah High School over the long weekend.
The Orchid Society of NSW’s annual spring show is held in association with the Eastern Suburbs Orchid Society and Sutherland Shire Orchid Society.
There were many rare and colourful flowering orchids on display.
Enthusiasts were able to find information on orchid care and unique new species from some of the country’s top experts.
Categories on display include exotic hybrid orchids, classic shape, non-classic shape, cluster type, exotic species, Australian Native Species and Australian Species Hybrid.
Orchid vendors exhibited from NSW, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and Japan.
There large displays put on by Sutherland Shire Orchid Society, Bankstown Orchid Society, Eastern Suburbs Orchid Society, Southside Species Orchid Society.
Henk van den Berg Best won best in show with his Dockrillia Oliver Jack ‘‘Gerard’’.
The champion species was Bendroverium Spectabile from New Guinea.
